Spirit of Tasmania offer transport across Bass Strait for people, vehicles, freight and even pets. One of two vessels sails between Melbourne (Victoria) and Devonport (Tasmania) most nights and some days during peak periods. Built in 1998, Spirit of Tasmania I and II are 30,000 tonne roll on / roll off passenger and freight vessels that have a cruising speed of 27 knots (50 km/h), and are capable of travelling the 429 km voyage in approximately 9 to 11 hours.
Travellers can enjoy a drink in one of the bars, a dinner of fine Tasmanian produce in the a la carte restaurant, a walk on the deck or a relaxing ocean view from one of the many lounges.
