In August 2002 the Deloraine Rotary Club commissioned Kim Clark to undertake a whimsical community arts project. Rotary wanted a water powered music machine.
Kim enlisted the help of several local creative geniuses: John Parish, Paul Noordanus, Frank Clark, Tony Imison, Neville Badcock and Brook Groombridge, to submit ideas for the construction of what is now called The Aquaphonium.
Members of the design team met on Saturdays to thrash out just how to make the ideas into realities....Neville Badcock's amazing water powered pan pipes and Frank Clark's finely engineered, hand driven, Irish whistle Plonk Dunker are two examples.
The Aquaphonium was officially launched at the Tasmanian Craft Fair in 2003.
