Corinna is your home in the wilderness – an oasis in the heart of the Tarkine. There are plenty of accommodation alternatives at Corinna, including one original miner’s cottages (one and two-bedroom options), an old guest house (with single and double rooms and shared kitchen and bathroom facilities), and fourteen new cottages built to the original style, but with modern amenities including ensuites. The new accommodation offers ten one-bedroom cottages with Queen beds and four two-bedroom cottages. The cottages all back directly onto the Tarkine rainforest. They have their own verandahs, fully equipped kitchens, rainwater tanks and heating. News
In March 2007, the Minister for Tourism, Arts and the Environment, Paula Wriedt, announced funds for the construction of an historic hotel at Corinna. The $200,000 grant is one of the first tourism projects to benefit from the State Government’s $16 million Tourism Promotion Plan. Corinna Wilderness Experience was one of seven successful proposals for funding from a total of 48 applications Directors of Tarkine Wilderness Pty Limited had applied for funds to assist with the third stage of the redevelopment of the historic mining town of Corinna on the west coast. Funding on a dollar for dollar basis has been made available to develop facilities at Corinna that include a restaurant, bar, visitors centre and meetings facilities. Chairman of Tarkine Wilderness Pty Limited, Max Ullrich said, “This development will enable guests staying at Corinna to share the secrets of the Tasmanian wilderness in a level of comfort and service that enhances the total experience. It gives us the ability to bring guests who would rather not use the self catering option which is already available” Plans are at the final approval stage and construction is expected to start in the third quarter with a view to completion by the end of the calendar year. Mr. Ullrich added,“ Corinna has already captured the imagination of Tasmanians and mainlanders who appreciate authentic nature based experiences in one of the world’s oldest rainforests. With the completion of stage 3 we will be able to target international visitors who will have nothing to worry about other than feeding their souls and nourishing their spirit” For enquiries about accommodation, river cruises on the famous Arcadia II and bookings, please contact our staff at Corinna on 03 64461170 or check into the web site at www.corinna.com.au
