Mona Pavilions
Description
Mona pavilions offer contemporary design, avant-garde art, a heated lap pool, sauna and gym, restaurant, micro-brewery and winery near Hobart. The eight pavilions sit on a 3.5 hectare private peninsula that curves into the Derwent River and each feature artworks from the Mona (Museum of Old and New Art) collection, and iconic designer furniture. Each pavilion has panoramic north-facing views, is self-contained, and built to ensure privacy, indulgence and relaxation. Three are glass cubes that appear balanced in the landscape; one is a three-storey diamond shaped building enclosed in a silver metallic skin; and the remaining four cantilever over the river bank. You can choose from one or two bedroom configurations. All have access to the heated infinity pool, sauna and gymnasium. They feature double spa baths, contemporary bespoke furniture by Tasmanian designers, furnishings from Philippe Starck, Patricia Uquiola and Ron Arad, and complete kitchens, along with a private cellar stocked with our award-winning Moorilla wines and Moo Brew beer. Rates include breakfast in The Source Restaurant daily. In-room techno toys include dockings stations for your iPod or iPhone, in-room wireless internet service, music server with a choice of music pre-installed, 5.1 digital sound; Blu-ray disc player, Dynalite controlled lighting, and in some pavilions, Aquavision LCD screens with waterproof controls. The Mona site is open Wednesday – Monday. Whilst it is closed on Tuesdays, pavilion guests can still enjoy breakfast in the Source Restaurant, room service, and an exclusive museum tour at 3.45pm.
