Uniquely Deloraine Studio

Description

Much of my work reflects my love for the bush and beaches of Australia, as well as memories of my Australian and overseas travels.

I enjoy the soft luminescence watercolour allows, as well as the bold, bright, and dark tones that I can achieve in this medium. Watercolour is often an unforgiving medium, but it can also deliver great rewards, and is never dull. I enjoy the challenge of this often difficult medium; of having to think in reverse and paint inside out; of working from light to dark; the freedom and excitement of working “wet in wet”; and the control required for “wet on dry”.

My recent works have been influenced by the vibrant light and colours of the tropics where I lived and worked for 5 years, and have been rendered in a bolder more contemporary style.

I moved to Deloraine from the Whitsunday Coast of Queensland in early 2011 and my Tasmanian urban streetscapes have benifited from this influence of light and colour.
