Parkham Community Hall stands on the traditional lands of the Pallittorre People.
Parkham Hall is nestled in lush green dairy and beef country with the magnificent Great Western Tiers mountain range to the south, towering over the plains and dusted with snow in the cooler months. This was the country where the notorious gentleman bushranger Matthew Brady had his hideout and the hall sits on Bradys Plain Road just down the track from his old haunts.
The Community originally built the hall and church over 100 years ago and recently purchased the land and buildings from the Anglican Church. While most of the old town of Parkham has disappeared over time – the post office, store, and school have long gone; the hall and church buildings have remained a focus of community life for the district.
The region is known for its wonderful produce with Deloraine to the South, and Latrobe and Devonport further North. The famous Ashgrove Cheese dairy is just up the road from Parkham, as is the Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm and Café.
Festival of Small Halls rolls into Parkham on Friday, 10 January 2025 with Susan O’Neill and Monique Clare.
Opening the show will be local act Brad Gillies!
Brad Gillies is coming home to perform in Parkham where he was born and raised. Brad is a singer/songwriter hailing from this community playing rockin’ blues ‘n’ roots you could expect from the Mississippi heartland with a predominantly optimistic style. As a swampy bluesman, he has supported some of Australia’s most prestigious artists, singing songs of redemption, love, and celebration with an Islander’s perspective.
BBQ will be available at the hall, offering burgers, sausage sizzles and roast rolls.
Soft drinks will made for sale, and the event is BYO alcohol.
Parkham Community Hall has accessible entry (front double door entrance with ramp) and has accessible bathrooms (accessible toilet with baby changing and shower facilities).
